The position of foreigners in the legislation of the Republic of Serbia (“RoS”) was significantly changed by the adoption of amendments to the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Employment of Foreigners. New regulations in this field were adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia at the end of last month. The last amendments brought more favorable rules for foreign citizens in the field of their residence and employment in the RoS.
The new requirements related to the position of foreign citizens in the RoS entered into force on 4 August 2023, i.e. 8 days after they were published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, while the most significant amendments in the regulation of the position of foreigners will apply from 1 February 2024.
